Fostering Sports and Cultural Exchange: “Aau Khel Khelau” Event

A vibrant celebration of sports and cultural exchange took center stage as Swami Vivekanand Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, in collaboration with National Police Training Academy, Kathmandu, orchestrated a full-day sports event titled “Aau Khel Khelau/आऔं खेल खेलौं”. The event showcased a unique blend of indigenous sports, teamwork, and cross-cultural interactions.

Diverse Indigenous Sports: The event was a resounding testament to the promotion of indigenous sports like Lagori (Pittu/Paan-Dhunge), Rumal lukai, Kho-Kho, Tug of War, and Kabbadi. These games, often rooted in tradition, served as a bridge between cultures and generations.

Honoring Distinguished Presence: Hon’ble Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Dig Bahadur Limbu, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The presence of DCM Shri Prasanna Shrivastava added an air of distinction as the Special Guest. Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) of the National Police Academy extended encouragement and observed the spirited games.

Tug of War: A Celebrity Showcase: The event was not short of excitement, with the Tug of War game drawing celebrities from the sports field. The inclusion of renowned figures in the game added an extra layer of enthusiasm and competitiveness. The spirited Kabbadi match between Embassy of India and Nepal Police team exemplified the spirit of friendly competition while fostering bilateral relations. This sports event brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared passion for the game.

Promoting Team Spirit and Cultural Exchange: The event’s significance transcended the playing field. Involving students from 10 different schools, the event fostered the values of teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie. It also played a pivotal role in promoting cultural exchanges, bringing diverse communities together under the banner of sports.

Sambad Foundation’s Active Participation: Sambad Foundation’s Kathmandu team contributed dynamically to the event, participating and volunteering, showcasing their commitment to community engagement and cross-cultural initiatives.
