Vimarsh: A Grand Celebration of Maithili Literature and Cultural Dialogue

Celebrating the Rich Legacy of Maithili LiteratureFrom June 9–11, 2023 (Jestha 26–28, 2080 B.S.), Vimarsh Foundation successfully organized “Vimarsh,” a three-day literary and cultural event dedicated to the promotion and celebration of Maithili literature. Presented by Nepovit Tiles and supported by Sambad Foundation, the event brought together distinguished scholars, writers, intellectuals, and literature enthusiasts from Nepal and India to engage in meaningful discussions on the past, present, and future of Maithili literary traditions.

The event served as a vibrant platform for cross-border cultural exchange, intellectual discourse, and the preservation of a shared literary heritage that connects communities across the Mithila region.

An Extraordinary Beginning at Dashrath Talau

The inaugural day of Vimarsh featured a unique and memorable setting at Dashrath Talau in Janakpurdham. A specially designed floating stage was arranged on the tranquil waters of the historic pond, creating an inspiring atmosphere for literary dialogue.

Participants gathered along the banks of the pond, where they listened to thought-provoking discussions and presentations amidst the natural beauty of the surroundings. This innovative setting symbolized the deep connection between culture, heritage, and community, setting the tone for the event’s celebration of Maithili identity and creativity.

The second and third days of the program were held at Mithila Yatri Niwas Hall, providing an ideal environment for scholarly engagement and literary exploration.
